  • If you are experiencing low water pressure or no water at all, check water faucets in other parts of the house. If you have water in other parts of the house, you probably only have a stopped up strainer. If there is low pressure throughout the house, call Milan Public Utilities at 731-686-1537. This phone line is accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week. A representative will ask you a few questions to determine the cause of your problem and come by as necessary to help resolve the problem.

  • If you have a known leak at your residence but cannot get the water turned off, you can call the Milan Public Utilities office at 731-686-1537 and request that we turn it off for you. During the week and during normal working hours, this service is free. If you require assistance at other than normal working hours there will be a $25.00 service charge.

  • If you happen to see a consistent flow of water running down the street or boiling up out of the ground, there is probably a water main break in the area and you should report it immediately to Milan Public Utilities at 731-686-1537.

  • Milan Public Utilities is responsible for your service line up to the water meter. Any leak or break past the water meter belongs to the customer and you should call a plumber to fix the problem.

  • Customers may determine if there is a leak on their side of the meter by first turning off all water in the house. Next, look at the water meter and find the red triangular dial near the center of the meter. If this dial is turning, there is a leak.


  • If you are having trouble flushing toilets or sinks draining slowly check other toilets and sinks in the house to see if the problem is only in one location. If you are having trouble throughout the house, call Milan Public Utilities at 731-686-1537 and have our crew check the sewer mains in your area. We will verify if the problem is in our sewer mains or localized at your location. The crew member will notify you if you have a problem in your service line. If you do have a problem, you will need to call a plumber to open your service line.

  • Your plumber is responsible for opening your service line all the way to the sewer main. If your plumber is having problems unstopping your service line, he can call us for further assistance.

  • If your service line is broken down or is non-functional in the portion supplied to you as the original tap, then Milan Public Utilities will repair or replace that portion at no cost to the customer. Any other problem on your service line belongs to the customer and you are responsible for having it repaired.

  • If you happen to notice sewer running down the street or out of a manhole, call Milan Public Utilities at 731-686-1537 immediately and report the location.
